Stifle joint of a horse

This model demonstrates the complex anatomy of the stifle joint of the horse. It is dissected to reveal:

  • The femoropatellar joint (between the patella and the trochlea of the femur). The medial, middle, and lateral patellar ligaments and the medial and lateral femoropatellar ligaments.
  • The femorotibial joints (medial and lateral): are between the distal end of the femur(femoral condyles), and the proximal end of the tibia (tibial condyles). The medial and lateral mensci are demonstrated. Various ligaments of these joints are dissected including the cranial and caudal cruciate ligaments, the menisci, and liagments including the meniscotibial and meniscofemoral. The lateral and medial collateral ligaments, tendon of popletius muscle, and other related structures are demonstrated.
